On Thursday the 17th of February, we picked up a beautiful miniature of the Forze II. It was made by Paol Beijersbergen, a huge fan of Jan Lammers. He has build all cars Jan Lammers has ever driven. Though Jan Lammers never drove the Forze II, Paol made a miniature of it anyway. As soon as we heard about it, we invited Paol to show him the real thing. He was really enthusiastic and agreed to build a miniature for us too! You can see all miniatures on www.paol.nl

On February 12th, the political party VVD organised ‘de dag van de moderne economie’ at the Science Centrum Delft. This day, politicians got in touch with young, innovative companies. Our team was also present to showcase the hydrogen technology we are racing with. The leader of the party, Mark Rutte, wanted to know what it’s like to sit behind the steering wheel of a hydrogen kart. He enjoyed it quite a lot; his exact words were “wat gaaf!”.

Cornel BV, a company located in ’s Gravenzande specialised in installing and maintaining central heating systems, is since today for the next three years an official sponsor of Greenchoice Forze – Formula Zero Team Delft. Cornel BV recognizes the need for a sustainable world and sees great potential in hydrogen technology, technology they support. With the donation, Cornel BV makes it possible for the Greenchoice Forze – Formula Zero Team Delft to participate in the European races.

Today, a sponsor agreement was signed between SEGGER Microcontroller and Greenchoice Forze! SEGGER Microcontroller develops and distributes hardware and software development tools as well as software components for embedded systems. An “embedded system” is one in which a microprocessor and associated components are incorporated into a device helping to accomplish difficult and complex tasks in products such as cell phones, medical instruments, etc. Since this day, its most important application will be our new hydrogen kart that is currently being developed, the Forze III !

From 11 till 13 December, the ‘Jaarbeurs’ in Utrecht was transformed in a naturist paradise. We visited this event together with our main sponsor, Greenchoice. The Forze II got a lot attention from all the 8.300 visitors! The event also received a lot of attention nation wide.

On Wednesday the 10th of December Greenchoice Forze visited the 7th National Hydrogen Fuel Cell Congress in Arnhem. The international top of this branche was represented. For example, Tadashi Kimura of Toshiba came over from Japan specifically for this event! Lots of interesting hydrogen projects were presented, but the Forze II was definitely the eyecatcher of the event!

On Monday the 23rd of November, Greenchoice Forze visited the Kennisfestival ‘09 in Leiden. The event was visited by approximately 500 representatives of innovative companies, officials of different cities from the provence Zuid-Holland, like mayor Verkerk of the city of Delft, and representatives of the provence itself.

Saturday evening, the Forze II was on national television in the television programme ‘De Tuinruimers’. Rob Verlinde, the most famous gardener in the Netherlands, made a testdrive and was very impressed by its performance. Very enthusiastic was he about our bodywork, made of flax fibers and a bio-resin specially developped by DSM.

Greenchoice Forze won the first Italian Grand Prix for hydrogen racing karts in Turin. The team managed to repair the kart quickly and claim victory after crashing into the barriers. The race was part of the Eco-Efficiency Biennial 2009, an exposition of sustainable technology with a focus on mobility and design.

The Grand Prix consisted of a sprint race and a main race. Greenchoice Forze won the second place in the sprint race on Saturday. The most important part of the GP however was the main race on Sunday. During the second qualification for this race, the driver Andrew Hagens lost control of the kart after hitting the barriers. A steering rod broke, causing the kart to spin off the track. The driver was unharmed, but the front of the kart was devastated. The first qualification time was fortunately fast enough, allowing Greenchoice Forze to start the finals anyway.

The kart had to be fixed in 15 minutes, making participating in the finals virtually impossible. Good teamwork was the reason Greenchoice Forze managed to replace the front suspension and the bumper, and get the kart in race condition within the time limit.

In the finals the student team from Delft put down a fast time. The Spanish team was not able to improve this time, so Greenchoice Forze claimed victory of the GP. The students from Delft were honored by various dignitaries like the Dutch consul in Turin, mr Áccornero. Besides the consul also the vice-president of the provence of Piemonte, mr Peveraro, the alderman of infrastructure of the provence Piemonte, mr Bairati and the alderman of sports of the city of Turin, mr Sbriglio were very praiseful about the hydrogen racing team Greenchoice Forze.

On Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th of September, Uden organised a great family festival to bring more attention to technology. There were about 60.000 visitors at TechEvent, because of all the great artists that performed this weekend. Nikki and Djumbo performed on a big stage at the market, but most people came for Guus Meeuwis or Jeroen van de Boom. Of course, Greenchoice Forze was also present to show everybody that it is already possible to race with fuel cell technology.
